Since the emergence of camouflage clothing as a major fashion trend during the 60’s, military surplus and high fashion have had a special relationship. First worn as a form of protest of the Vietnam War, camouflage is now considered somewhat of a staple in many wardrobes. The further incorporation of other military details during the late 20th century by designers like Raf Simons, Helmut Lang, and Dolce & Gabana has legitimized military wear as fashion and the tradition continues today. The following images were created with intention to recall the roots of the now mature trend. The sweater worn is a collage of military type knitwear that is accompanied by light distressing. To complement the style, the pants feature a button closure reminiscent of a naval uniform, while the colour suggests infantry wear. When placed in a grassy field, the ensemble feels as tactical as it does stylish. Welcome to the WarZone.
